Agricultural Economics Research Information Center

The scientific output of Egyptian scientists and researchers in the field of agricultural economics is the main domain of this portal, as it classifies and encodes academic research papers published in specialized periodicals and academic conferences, studies carried out by specialized institutions and academic theses approved by Egyptian universities in the field of agricultural economics, making them available to all interested parties. The center’s database also complies and classifies all agricultural economics research centers, university departments and involved researchers. Due to the fact that most agricultural economics research studies and theses are written in Arabic, the portal provides an English translation of the titles and sources in order to make this scientific output available to the world at large and highlight the efforts of Egyptian researchers in this field. In this sense, the center acts as a sponsoring agency for the national scientific output in the field of agricultural economics, through preserving, supporting, encouraging and facilitating it.

The center is one of the projects sponsored by the Enhancement of Higher Education Project, and is concerned with addressing the lack of communication between researchers and research centers, which in turn lead to the redundancy of certain studies, lack of accumulation of knowledge necessary for any real progress and an enormous waste of limited human, financial and academic resources. The project was carried out the Department of Agricultural Economics in Menofiya University in collaboration with the various departments and research centers of agricultural economics across Egypt. Today the center has prepared a huge and advanced database enabling all those concerned with this field to benefit from its material through the following:

• Carrying out a comprehensive process of compilation, encoding and classification through contacting all agricultural economics university departments, research centers and specialized book stores in addition to different ministries. And compiling and classifying all the university departments and research centers concerned with agricultural economics and establishing contact between the staff members to facilitate communication between these centers.
• Preparing a code to classify these research studies topically, regionally, chronologically, alphabetically and according to crops.
• Creating an electronic portal powered by an efficient search engine that facilitates the search for research information, synopses and contents. The portal also covers the latest local, regional and international scientific developments in the field of agricultural economics.
• Forming a team of specialists offering required scientific consultation to the visitors of the website, as it aims to be aspecialized consultation center for agricultural economics connected to the various production centers.
